Within this theme, we study materials in a multidisciplinary way, as drivers of the (perceived) value of manufactured products and, more generally, the user experience. Thus, materials are studied in their interactions with humans and their perceptual system along two scientific axes:

  • The “Augmented Materials” axis focuses on materials capable of enhancing the user experience, such as functional composite materials and materials with visual effects, with a focus on the characterization and modeling of their behaviors.
  • The “Perception of Materials” axis focuses on the development of methods for evaluating material values, with a focus on the perceived value of second-life materials to identify adoption levers.
