The MSM activity platform is a cross-cutting structure within the LGF laboratory that provides research tools dedicated to studying the fundamental mechanisms of material behaviour. It comprises 2 research engineers and 6 senior technicians affiliated with the various LGF teams. Using unique equipment, the MSM platform develops activities focused on the development of:
- metal alloys for industrial metallurgical issues;
- ceramics and multimaterials through rapid sintering processes (microwaves);
- composites via liquid processing (resin infusion) and biocomposites based on flax fibres.
In support of the MSM platform, there is a chemical analysis service to identify the composition of metal alloys, as well as a metallography service with facilities for sample preparation and observation by optical microscopy.
MSM thus supports the study of the in-service properties of materials for the benefit of LGF teams.
