A joint laboratory between Orano and LGF

The kick-off meeting for the new joint laboratory between Orano and LGF took place on September 5, 2023, at the École des Mines. It allowed about ten R&D decision-makers from Orano to learn more about the research conducted by the laboratory’s faculty-researchers involved in the project and to visit the premises. In the presence of Bertrand Morel, Orano’s R&D Director, Jacques Fayolle, Director of the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, and Jean-Paul Viricelle, Director of the laboratory, ties were strengthened, promising a lasting collaboration on the laboratory’s areas of expertise, particularly those of its PMDM and SURF teams. These include Industry 4.0, Process Engineering – especially applied to powders and granular materials, process modeling, artificial intelligence including BIG DATA and Machine Learning, and augmented reality. This joint laboratory will contribute to strengthening Orano’s position as an international player, particularly in the nuclear fuel sector, and will provide the laboratory’s researchers with practical application grounds for their experiments and models.
