LGF/LGL-TPE exchange half-day on July 3, 2024

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, the Georges Friedel Laboratory (LGF) and the Geology Laboratory (LGL-TPE) of Jean Monnet University invite you to a half-day exchange focused on materials characterization.
The objective is to present specific areas of expertise from our laboratories regarding microstructures, the behavior of our “materials” under “extreme” conditions, and the characterization of transformations using state-of-the-art tools down to the nanoscale available in Saint-Étienne, thereby fostering discussions and synergies between our teams.
Program
1:30 PM–2:00 PM: Welcome/Coffee
2:00 PM–4:00 PM:
-S. KALACSKA: Decoding the History of a Martian Meteorite: Insights from Extreme Micromechanical Testing and Synchrotron Based Microstructure Characterization
– P. M. ZANETTA: Identifying chemical reservoirs in the protoplanetary disk through atomic-scale analysis of primitive solar system minerals.
– A. M. SEYDOUX: What monazite tells us at the nanoscale: a journey through time and space
– F. CHRISTIEN: Measuring grain boundary composition by STEM EDX: The case of steels in the primary circuit of French nuclear power plants
