PhD defense – Antoine Leroux – October 5, 2026

Antoine Leroux’s PhD defense will take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the F1 lecture hall at École des Mines de Saint-Étienne.

The work is entitled “Multi-geometry bulk depalletizing: image analysis and prediction by geometric similarity for automation”. It focuses on a vibrating tray that separates and orients bulk parts before they are picked up by a robot. The aim is to reduce the commissioning time for a new part by anticipating its behavior through similarity with already characterized parts, and by calibrating, based solely on its shape, the inspection vision used for part picking.

The jury will be composed of:

  • Prof. Danielle Nuzillard, University Professor, reviewer
  • Prof. David Fofi, University Professor, reviewer
  • Prof. Christophe Cudel, University Professor, examiner
  • Prof. Sylvie Chambon, University Professor, examiner
  • Patrick Pizette, Associate Professor, examiner
  • Johan Chaniot, Research Fellow, examiner
  • Prof. Yann Gavet, Professor, thesis supervisor
  • Sébastien Lherminier, R&D Manager at Expertise Vision

A reception will be held after the deliberation, in the SPIN break room.
