Scientific outreach day “LGF 2nd-year PhD students” 2024

On October 4, 2024, the traditional scientific outreach day took place, during which PhD students at the end of their second year presented their work. As always, the programme featured a wide range of topics, in-depth discussions, and a great deal of conviviality.

A tribute was paid to Johan Debayle, the laboratory’s deputy director, who sadly passed away in early September.

Programme:

  • 8:30–9:00 AM: Welcome coffee
  • 9:00–9:15 AM: A word from the Director

  • 9:15–9:40 AM Kouteir RIAHI (PMM): Numerical design and experimental validation
of complex concentrated alloys for nuclear applications
  • 9:40–10:05 AM Ulysse GAUMET (MPE): Additive manufacturing using “cloisonné” techniques
  • 10:05–10:30 AM Bryan SOUVHON (PMM): Microstructural optimisation of
aeronautical components manufactured in Ni 201TM alloy by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

  • 10:30–11:00 AM: Coffee break

  • 11:00–11:25 AM Rachel SEILLIER (PMDM): Assessment of contaminant transfers in
anthropogenic soils for improved management of industrial legacies (online)
  • 11:25–11:50 AM Charlene MHANNA (SURF): Study of the kinetics and mechanisms of
dissolution of mixed uranium and plutonium superoxides – impact on their plutonium
    insolubility (online)
  • 11:50 AM–12:15 PM Gianluca VERNASSA (PMM): Ultimate field of HTS solenoids: mechanical
    challenges (online)

  • 12:15–1:30 PM: Buffet lunch

  • 1:30–1:55 PM Jeanne FAVROT (SURF): Sensory evaluation of materials and systems for
    tactile interfaces
  • 1:55–2:20 PM Yanis TAIBI (PMM): Micromechanical and microstructural studies of
Cr coatings deposited on a Zr-alloy substrate
