European GEMSTONE Project

The startup supported by team at École des Mines de Saint-Étienne has secured a European GEMSTONE project from the GREENINNOV calls via the CIMES competitiveness cluster. This innovative project focuses on the development of a PTES (Pumping Thermal Energy Storage) battery, conducted in collaboration with the company Steelhy. The American company USNC is also part of the project, with the support of the Georges Friedel Laboratory and CETHIL (INSA de Lyon). The objective of this project is to pool developed technologies to create a thermal electricity storage system at the demonstrator scale, a technology that promotes process decarbonization and the advancement of renewable energies. Wallace technologies develops high-compactness thermal exchangers using a laser/powder process and integrates this innovative element into its 4.0 development of Carnot batteries.
