Co-organization of the “High-Entropy Alloys” (HEA) summer school

The CNRS thematic school “Metallurgy of HEAs” was held in Cargèse from September 10 to 16, 2023. Led by Marc LEGROS (CEMES), it was co-organized by Anna FRACZKIEWICZ (LGF) and Pierre-Antoine GESLIN (MATEIS). It received co-funding from the CNRS Institute for Engineering and Systems Sciences (INSIS) and CNRS and the GDR 2048 – HEA, as well as financial support from the National Metallurgy Network.

The school attracted over 60 participants, including doctoral students, engineers, and researchers. Its program covered the field of physical metallurgy “at the service” of new alloys (HEAs). Among the speakers were four members of the LGF: Andras BORBELY (lecture on “X-ray Diffraction”), Anna FRACZKIEWICZ (lecture on “Design and Development of Concentrated Alloys”), Quentin GAILLARD (presentation on “Additive Manufacturing of Metallic Alloys”), and Ayobami DARAMOLA (presentation of thesis results, “Atomic-scale Simulation of Dislocations in a CrFeMnNi Family HEA Alloy”).

It is also worth noting that Mathieu TRAVERSIER, a doctoral student at the laboratory, was awarded a best poster prize for his thesis work entitled “Influence of Nitrogen on the Mechanical Strength of Cobalt-free HEAs at Different Temperatures”.
